Merge Duplicate GMail Contacts

Google recently added a new feature for GMail service. This features makes easier to handle large contacts list with duplicate entries. Previously we had to merge duplicate contacts one by one which was a hectic task. Importing contacts from other Email services providers to GMail will help to merge repeated contacts and shrinking contacts list for quick sync of Android, iPhone, Blackberry devices!

How To:

-Sign into GMail and go to Contacts at bottom of left sidebar
-Click Find Duplicate


-Check which contact are meant to be merged and Click Merge 

Google Nexus One [Specs+Video]

Google Products do have a promising start but the question remains how are they going to penetrate in users heart. We all know that Google Wave was the most trending topic in 2009 on Twitter but unfortunately for ento geeks it didn't proved much of a treat. However its power can only be judged if you have the required requirement for it. For now fingers are crossed for Google designed, HTC manufactured "Nexus One" and how it will be decorated with Android 2.1, is still questionable keeping in mind Nokia N900, Apple iPhone, Motorola Droid and Sony Ericsson Xperia. We have seen many screen shots and its boot animation couple of days ago. Not to forget it is said to be equipped with Snapdragon processor with a tag price of $199.  Moreover rumors are that there will be special discount packages for old GMail users and will be available online and unlocked via Google. http://google.com/nexusone seems one authenticated site for  Nexus one pre-orders but is down. Nexus One will be launched in January/February may be 5th Jan at the earliest. Some of up to date known specs are enlisted below

Bing for iPhone released

Bing search engine devs has launched its Search app for iPhone/iPod users. Bing application opens with Bing's image in the background. Using this app we can search for Images, Movies, Maps, Business, News, Directions.

This app also contains voice feature embedded for voice search. Bing app is available free on iTunes and is rated as 4+.

Requirements: iPhone/iPod Touch 2G with OS 3.0 or later

How to make .doc files images

Microsoft does not allow to save any word document file as an image. And if Prt Sc option is used, not all of the document file gets printed. There is a option to convert any length document file to image using Microsoft XPS document writer and XPS converter. Follow below

-Open .doc file and go to File > Print (or hit Ctrl+P)
-Chose 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' from Name drop down list and give path to save .xps file



-Download freeware XPSImage, install and run it
-Add saved *.xps file in XPS to Image converter



-Set output file location, image format and image quality
-Hit 'Click here to convert to image files'

Run Twitter inside Thunderbird 3.0 [Hack]

Many of you might be using Thunderbird 3.0 alot after after its debut release, There are bunch of new features to play with. Theres a little hack which we want to share with you guys. Since there is no option to access Twitter inside Thunderbird, but some extra amount of code will work.

Go to Tools > Error Console and Past following code and hit Evaluate.

Firefox 3.5.6 Released

Firefox has updated their ftp servers with the new awaited 3.5.x series version browser. Firefox 3.5.6 comes with many bug fixes to avoid vulnerable attacks and frequent browser crashes. It is highly recommended to update to new version to avoid such mishaps in near future. 62 bug fixes have reported fixed including 11 critical and 6 major ones. Port Android 2.1 to Droid

Android Mobile OS is getting quite a fame as more and more devices are being ported. The rumors roaming that Nexus One will be operated on Android 2.1, came true. Motorola Droid is amongst some of the devices to get the treat. Sholes.info devs managed to install Android 2.1 on Verizon Droid using SirPsychoS's recovery image humancyborg. The img file can be directly downloaded from here. However this is the early stages of ported Android and precaution should be taken while porting. The animation shown below is of ported Android 2.1 to Motorola Droid, which seems coherent with Google Nexus One Boot Animation.

Microsoft VPC & XP Mode RTM [Official DDL]

Back in October Microsoft VPC RTM build 7600.16393 was leaked on internet. Microsoft has now Officially released Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode as final RTM versions.

With Windows VPC we can install one or more guest operating systems on top of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate. It also enables one click install of Windows XP Mode. Whereas Windows XP mode containing pre-installed copy of Windows XP SP3 allows us to install software's which are directly not executable in Windows 7.

Since Windows VPC and Windows XP Mode requires Hardware Assisted Virtualization (HAV) CPU feature. Its better to Download HAV and have a compatibility check.

Nokia N85 Firmware updated to 31.002

Seems like frequent updates going on for Nokia fans. Previously Nokia N79 updated to 32.001, N96 to 30.101 and now N85 to 31.002. New update can be accessed via OTA or NSU.
