Install Songbird 1.4.1 in Ubuntu

Songbird is a free and open source audio player and web browser developed by Mozilla. It provides cross platform compatibility with Windows, Mac, Linux. Songbird has the ability to play multiple audio formats such as mp3, aac, ogg vorbis, flac, apple lossless, and wma including WMDRM.

How to Install?
For 32-bit users
- Download .deb file for 32-bit Ubuntu users
- Open terminal and enter
sudo dpkg -i songbird_1.4.1_i686_skyzim.deb
For 62-bit users
- Download .deb file for 64-bit Ubuntu users
- Open terminal and enter
sudo dpkg -i songbird_1.4.1-x86_64-skyzim.deb

When installed Songbird 1.4.1 can be access from Applications > Sound & Video

Install Thunderbird 3.0 in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic

To install Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala we need to include repositories into the system. Open terminal and enter command,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily
sudo apt-get update

This will update the sources.list file. Now install Thunderbird 3.0 using following command

apt-get install thunderbird-3.0

Access Thunderbird 3.0 by going to Applications > Internet > Thunderbird 3.0

Update Seesmic for Windows

Seemic, Twitter Windows Native client got updated to v0.5.2. Primary focus is intended for Stability issues and Performance in general.

- Corrections in timestamps in the HOME timeline
- UI Enhancements and improvements when receiving, sending and deleting Direct Messages
- Corrections in duplicate messages
- Validations and improvements to Link Shortening
- Deletion of messages where allowed (DM's & Sent)
- Corrections when inserting images
- Various improvements when composing messages

Google Nexus One specs confirmed?

Engadget reports that they have got hold of Google Nexus One specs. Its learned that Nexus One retail starts from 5th January as early. Unfortunately, it will be based on Invite only basis. T-Mobile users would be able to access special packages with Google Nexus One purchase. It may be speculated that invitations could work same as GMail or GW.

How to Root/Unroot Motorola CLIQ

Prerequisites:

Motorola 4.2.0 Driver for 32-bit Windows
Motorola 4.2.0 Driver for 64-bit Windows
RSD Lite 4.5.7

Root Motorola CLIQ:
- Install Motorola Driver and RSD Lite 4.5.7
- Download SHX File and unzip it
- Start RSD Lite, browse unzipped SHX file and select phone, it will reboot
- Run following command

adb remount
adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su

Unroot Motorola CLIQ:
- Download 1.1.31 Firmware and unzip
- Run RSD Lite 4.5.7, browse unzipped SHX file and select phone
- It will reboot phone to bootloader and flash unrooted firmware

Note: It will erase all stored data including apps, works with T-Mobile CLIQ firmware 1.1.4

Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 Updated

Opera released another update for Mobile 10 just after couple of months ago Beta 1 launch.  Its the second update which includes support for language such as Arabic and Hebrew with left right rendering. As told its the last update prior to final release. More phones supports auto-rotation with faster loading. The symbian version of browser gets access to native keyboard integration.

Genoid: Android Theme for Ubuntu


Genoid is GTK theme inherited from Android for Ubuntu users. It converts GNOME desktop to that of Android with Android wallpapers, icons, cursors etc.

How to install:
Right Click desktop and click Change Desktop. Click Theme tab, drag and drop theme's archive in appearance preferences window.

Nokia Image Space App for S60

Nokia Image Space is a new photo viewing app. It links Flickr account with Image space to easily browse pictures from Nokia S60 3.2 or 5.0 devices.


Built in Compass and GPS is required to Geo-tag your images  taken which not only records image orientation only but also its Position too in the metadata.



Future developments:
Given a suitable amount of pictures of a particular place, it generates a 3D spatial browsing presentation. This feature is in its early stages and will be coming in couple of months
