Fishbowl Facebook Client for Windows

If you are a Facebook addict and want to bring it to your Desktop, try out Fishbowl. This application is built by Microsoft own developers on Silverlight 4 platform. It allows photo browsing, zoom, photo slideshow, drag drop images and is completely ad free.

It would be great if chat feature is available, for now an online friend is marked with a green spot right next to his name and we can't chat with him. If you click on any page link it will open as a pop link redirected to particular website, and avoids using browser. Furthermore there is no option to delete your own feeds and would be highly appreciated if its embedded in future versions. One thing which is adorable for sure is the orientation of Display pictures.

JDownloader

JDownloader is a download manager for downloading files. Its based on open source platform and written in Java. Good thing about JD is that it allows multiple RapidShare, MegaUpload etc links download. We know that rapidshare links are the most reliable, speedier. However they require free users to wait as according to there policy 'free, fair and equal use to all'. If you got any rapidshare media/soft etc link in parts, JD will do the waiting stuff on its own. Also JD automatically recognizes captcha, file extraction and imports CCF, RSDF, and new DLC files. If you want to avoid the wait time, there are two options. One is to use a premium account or else configure JD to work with their routers. Second option require dynamic internet connection. But still JD team is working on auto router detection, since every client router configuration differs.

Official Google Chrome OS Source Code

Google has Officially announced its Operating System source code. It is purely based on Google Chrome browser. All the applications are web based. HTML 5 capabilities will allow to promote 3rd Party apps. However currently Android apps will not be able to run in Google Chrome OS. The main target of Google is to give a purely different Computing platform. Sadly it won't be compatible with many Netbooks. Nevertheless Google OS based Netbooks will be available soon. According to Google representative they are in collaboration with many hardware companies for hardware compatibilities. Amazingly its bootup time is about 7sec and obviously requires web access. There is offline support for Google apps and for now it looks like it is targeted to developers mainly.

Record Live Webcasts [HowTo]

There is nothing better than a Firefox AddOn to record the Live Webcasts. Many conferences or performances which are live webcast through web to your desktop can be of very importance for future reference, entertainment or just for informational purposes. Recently Microsoft, Apple, Nokia, Motorola events were live broadcast on internet. Some Official sites don't allow to download webcasts and are even hard to find on internet. Many users and enthusiasts like to save  important keynotes. Some people preserve them by writing the key notes, installing some software and running the recorder. However if you are using Firefox as your primary browser or can do so for an important event, do install MultiMediaWebRecorder (MMWR) Firefox AddOn.

MMWR allows to record any multimedia content from web. It automatically detects the current stream  being played and installs it on your desktop, But you need to give the path to save the recorded file. To record any file click the CD Drive icon on lower right. It will open a new column on left showing the currently running file with an animated cassette icon. Right click and hit 'save when recorded'.
