Aero on Windows 7/Vista Home Basic

Aero is acronym for 'Authentic', 'Energetic', 'Reflective', 'Open'. Aero theme GUI is a transparent theme for Windows 7 and Vista officially released by Microsoft. It is also available on Windows 2008 server. It is a successor of Luna theme. Aero theme in Windows 7 is a revised edition with several UI changes such as Aero Peek, Aero Shake, Aero Snap, Touch UI. Aero theme comes with many editions but deprived versions are Windows 7 Home Basic & Windows Vista Home Basic. Also, Aero theme can't be enabled on low end graphic cards or on PC's having no graphic card at all. Users using these versions can still have a realistic sense of Aero theme by Aero Enabler.

Aero Enabler lets to activate/deactivate Aero theme with single click. It also allows to disable Hardware Check if required graphic card is not available or Windows 7 Basic/Windows Home Basic is in use.

Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero

Cellular south will be delivering the Android 2.1 update to HTC Hero. It is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2010. Its not a huge surprise as the clone Sprint is also getting the update in the same time frame.

Ubuntu as Windows XP

Chinese pirates have successfully converted Ubuntu Linux OS to Windows XP, in GUI respect atleast. Linux based Windows XP OS named as Ylmf OS looks very much like Windows XP with all linux attributes. Ylmf OS uses similar Windows XP icons and taskbar. It comes with freeware such as Firefox and OpenOffice.org.

Wine integration allows to use Windows programs in Ylmf Linux OS. However some programs may not be able to run. Since the manufacturer are Chinese and language is also set to Chinese by default, which can be converted to English by running this command in terminal

sudo locale-gen en-US

Leaked Google Chrome OS Netbook Specs & Price

Google Chrome OS is a cloud based open source operating system. As official Google announcement depicts it is initially targeted for Netbooks which will be available from second half of 2010. Since Google Chrome OS does not supports all hardware specifications, which can be one of the reasons for Google to launch pre installed versions of their OS on Netbooks.
